Ciclo di Produzione del Vino

I’m hooked on the NPR radio show hosted by Lynne Rossetto Kasper. ”The show about life’s appetites.” ”The show for people who like to EAT.” What’s not to love? All the complete radio shows from the past two years are a free podcast download. I have a bunch in my ipod and listen to them while I, get this, RUN. Each show is 51 minutes long. I usually go about 4 slow miles.
We’ve also burned them to CD and they are great to listen to while in the car on long trips when I’m driving. (D puts on his headphones and listens to loud music to drown it out.)
Lynne, the show’s host, has a wonderful broad diverse descriptive vocabulary. She describes foods and wines and places and smells with such distinction and lushiousness it’s really impressive.
DJ and I got the chance to meet her this past Dec. She was in town as a fundraiser for our local npr station. We made a donation to the station and got to go to her event. There was food, wine tastings, she lectured about how studying table settings and meals throughout history, we can learn a great deal about the people and their norms, customs, attitudes, and concerns of the time. After, she signed autographs and let us snap this picture. My ‘real’ camera battery was dead so we had to use D’s camera phone.
D told her she was my best friend. How embarrassing. She graciously said, “Well that’s great, I’ll take friends any way I can get them.” And she said she gets told all the time that people work out listening to her show. So much for saying something original to her. Ha ha.

Hanging out with my BFF Lynne
